NBN Update for Murray Bridge Residents

 

The nbn™ broadband access network was switched on in Murray Bridge progressively in May and June 2016, with more than 8,100 homes and businesses able to connect to a retail plan over the nbn™ access network through a phone or internet provider.

The deadline for homes and businesses across Murray Bridge township to switch their landline phone and internet services over to the nbn™ broadband access network has passed for most (from 19 January) and for most others in February (from 9 Feb), with the existing copper network services being disconnected.

The rollout of the nbn™ broadband access network is an upgrade to Australia’s landline phone and broadband network. Once the network goes live in a particular area, residents and businesses have an 18 month window to contact their preferred phone or internet provider and make the switch. After this time, the nbn™ broadband access network will replace most existing landline phone and internet services and the copper network will be decommissioned.

To switch to the nbn™ access network:

  1. Contact a phone or internet provider
  2. Ask to switch to a new plan
  3. If you don’t have a provider, visit nbn.com.au/business

 

The copper network within nbn™ Fixed Wireless and Sky Muster™ Satellite areas will not be switched off. Premises within these areas will have the choice to keep their existing landline phone service over the copper network active, or switch over to a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) service on the nbn™ access network through a preferred phone and internet provider – connecting your new phone via the nbn™ supplied equipment.
