Our Strategies
3.1 Strengthening social capital
3.1.1 Collaborate with strategic partners to promote education and social policies that enhance community infrastructure and development, and encourage population stabilisation and future growth.
3.1.2 Working with local groups and committees, RDA M&R will identify strategies that support greater connectivity between groups and encouragement of new residents as active civic participants.
3.1.3 RDA M&R will provide leadership and facilitation support to the development of regional recreation and sporting facilities that increase regional amenity.
3.1.4 RDA M&R will provide leadership and facilitation support to the development of strategic responses to the needs of youth, the aged, migrants and Indigenous people.
3.1.5 Maintain a cross-agency perspective and facilitate integrated planning and government service delivery.
3.2 Skilling for the future
3.2.1 Working with strategic partners (particularly DFEEST), training providers and employment agencies, RDA M&R will promote future skill needs to encourage development of local capability to fill future skills gaps.
3.2.2 RDA M&R will promote environmentally-sustainable energy, water, waste and carbon practices to position the region to attract sustainable investment.
3.2.3 RDA M&R will provide ongoing leadership and facilitation to implement the Murraylands Education Precinct concept and support the Riverland Futures Taskforce to implement strategies for education development in the Riverland.
3.2.4 With strategic partners, the RDA M&R will identify training and development required by businesses, social/health/education services and residents to capitalise on the National Broadband Network and encourage take-up of preparatory training.
3.3 Developing a sound economic base
3.3.1 Provide and facilitate business development services that recognise small business as the engine house of the Australian economy and enable small business to contribute to a strong and diversified regional economy.
3.3.2 RDA M&R will work with regional partners to explore opportunities for affordable housing development across the region.
3.3.3 Retirement living will be a priority for population stabilisation and growth and improved local investment, RDA M&R will facilitate an audit of land suitability, regional synergies and marketing, development of a costed business model and partnerships with activity providers, and a regional launch.
