Employment & Training

The Murraylands and Riverland region has among the poorest levels of educational attainment in South Australia. It is acknowledged that people with low educational attainment are more vulnerable to periods of unstable employment, unemployment or being out of the labour force altogether, unless they are able to improve their foundational skills. Increasing workforce participation requires improved access to training and improving the attainment of qualifications.

The lack of literacy and numeracy skills associated with low educational attainment has been highlighted as a major issue across the region.

The Department of State Development (DSD) Skills for Jobs in Regions program reaches, engages and supports people who face barriers to learning, training and work through flexible and responsive initiatives that are tailored to the specific needs of individuals, communities, regions, industries and employers.

Skills for Jobs in Regions in partnership with RDA Murraylands & Riverland will partner with Networks, industry and community organisations to deliver targeted projects in response to local labour market needs.
