Building Better Regions Fund Resources


Applications for Round Two of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) are open until the 19 December 2017. High quality applications are sought for infrastructure projects and community capacity building initiatives that will create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities.

There are two streams of funding available under the program: 

  • Infrastructure Projects Stream supports projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure.
  • Community Investments Stream will fund community building activities including, but not limited to, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans and leadership and capability building activities.

Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland are available to assist those interested in applying and have put together a range of resources to help with the application process.


Program Outcomes 

The program has been designed to achieve the following outcomes in regional and remote communities;  

  • create jobs
  • have a positive impact on economic activity, including Indigenous economic participation through employment and supplier-use outcomes
  • enhance community facilities
  • enhance leadership capacity
  • encourage community cohesion and sense of identity.


When writing your application and supporting documentation keep in mind the Program Outcomes to ensure that you remind the assessment panel at every opportunity how your project delivers on the objectives of the BBR Fund.

The Infrastructure Projects Stream & Community Investments Stream require a number of supporting documents with the application.  Some are Mandatory and others optional depending on the value of the grant request.  

To assist applicants, RDAMR have provided a number of template examples (listed below) which might be useful.   

The Government makes no recommendation or endorsement on the form and style of the attachments and plans required but it is important to remember that this is a competitive grant process. 

The amount of detail you provide should be relative to the project size, complexity and grant amount requested.  The templates are therefore only a guide and should be amended to your own situation to present your case in the best possible light.
